The new 2011 Kia Sorento is offered in a 4-cylinder engine, the Theta II 2.4-liter with 172 hp and 166 lb.-ft. of torque. On the V-6 front, the new Lambda II 3.5-liter engine generates 273 hp and 247 lb.-ft. of torque. The Sorento with the all-new Kia-built 6-speed automatic returns EPA city/highway numbers of 20/28 for the FWD model. The 4-cylinder can also be had with the 6-speed auto, or a 6-speed manual for FWD models. Styling is clean and modern, heavily drawing upon the cues from the KND-4 concept. The Sorento's length has increased by about 3 inches. Cargo capacity has increased by 15 percent, and now, a 3rd-row split/fold seating is available on all but the base model. Even the entry model will have an AM/FM/CD/MP3/satellite-radio system and Bluetooth connectivity for cellphones as standard equipment. Equipment content ramps up, as you ascend through LX and EX trim levels, and the full option list is includes an impressive variety such as: pushbutton stop/start, a huge 2-panel sunroof, a sonar back-up warning system with rearview camera, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, leather seat trim, even a ventilation system that reduces dust levels by introducing negative ions.
