Kia Forte Q&A

Does The Kia Forte Have A Spare Tire?

World Car Kia New Braunfels

Will my Kia Forte come with a spare tire?

You never know when an accident can happen, and you can never be too prepared. Most people expect to find a spare tire in their trunk if they find themselves in a tire-related emergency. Contrary to this belief, spare tires are becoming increasingly rare in new cars. In fact, the newer your Kia Forte model is, the more likely it is that it does not have a spare tire included. The 2019 and 2020 Kia Forte models do not include a spare tire. Instead, Kia Forte owners will find a Tire Mobility Kit (TMK) under the trunk floorboard.

Why do Kia vehicles no longer include spare tires?

Replacing spare tires with tire repair kits is a growing trend. Many manufacturers are no longer including spare tires because:

·         It significantly lowers the weight of the vehicle

·         It increases cargo space

·         It improves fuel economy

Increasing the fuel economy rating saves gas, which saves you money, and protects the environment by lowering gas emissions. The benefits of removing the spare tire outweigh the cons.

Kia now offers Tire Mobility Kit (TMK) instead of a spare tire

In your Kia Forte, you will find a Kia Tire Mobility Kit in the trunk under the floorboard cover. The Inflator Kit includes an aerosol sealant, a filing hose, compressor, tire gauge, cables and hoses. For a more in depth description, check out the owner’s manual. These kits are designed to repair small punctures until you can get your car to a service center. If you have any other questions or concerns about the Tire Mobility Kit (TMK) or your new Kia Forte, don’t hesitate to contact us at World Car Kia New Braunfels.
